Local Stars of the Week: October 22nd – 28th

Julius Randle – Knicks

The NBA season has just begun, but Julius Randle is already averaging a double-double for a Knicks team that’s red hot out of the gate. New York went 2-1 in their opening week of play, including a wild double-OT win over Boston to open the year.
Randle is averaging 29 points-per-game and 11 rebounds, leading the way in the 138-134 thriller over the Celtics. He recorded a double-double in both of New York’s games against Orlando, setting an early season high with 16 rebounds.
Randle led the Knicks forward last year, and New York will look to another big year from their star.

Ilya Sorokin – Islanders

The Islanders turned around a rough start to the year, putting together a pair of shutouts against the Coyotes and Golden Knights. After allowing 10 goals in their first two games of the season, Ilya Sorokin stood firm in goal as the Islanders began to pick up steam on their road trip.
Sorokin made 26 saves against the winless Coyotes, but stopped another 42 shots on goal the next night against the cup-contending Golden Knights.
Sorokin played a big role in bringing New York within a few games of the Stanley Cup Final, and if he keeps heating up, the Islanders will be in great shape.

Daniel Jones – Giants

Danny Dimes did a little bit of everything as the Giants finally picked up their second win of the year. After two brutal losses to Dallas and Los Angeles, the Giants dominated the Carolina Panthers on both ends of the ball, winning 25-3.
Jones threw for 203 yards with just one touchdown pass, but made a great play for his own catch on a trick play. He went 23/33 on the night with no interceptions and a pass rating of 95.9.
A big win was just what the Giants needed with the season slipping away. There’s plenty of time left, but Daniel Jones definitely has his work cut out for him.
