Juniper Valley Park will play host to Relay for Life this weekend, an annual fundraising event where people who have faced cancer or who have lost a loved one to the disease walk through the night to raise money for cancer research.

Teams will camp out around the track and members will take turns walking, raising money through donations they have solicited leading up to the event. The event begins on Saturday, june 23, at 4 p.m. and ends on Sunday monring.

Middle Village's Relay for Life is different from other similar fundraisers because it is more of a community-based event.

“What you will see is a lot of people you grew up with,” said Leslie Orlovsky of the American Cancer Society. “It's also a big event this year because it is our 10th year.”

Orlovsky said volunteers are still needed to help with set up and cleaning. For more information, visit Relayforlife.org/middlevillageNY.
