There are an estimated 50,000 small businesses in the borough of Queens, and many of them appear to be headed over to the Executive Office Center at Fresh Meadows for virtual office services.

Owners Steven and Jack Blumner perceived the demand for flexible office space in Queens when they decided to open the Executive Office Center in 2011, but Executive Director, Jack Blumner, admits that he did not predict the extent of it. Last month, after being open for a little more than a year, the Executive Office Center signed up its 100th tenant.

The roster of the Executive Office Center presently includes 35 attorneys, half a dozen realtors, 5 accountants, and 5 social workers. The rest of the tenants run the gamut of business enterprises from business loan consulting to wedding DJ services.

"Queens is not a borough of Rockefellers," said Executive Director Jack Blumner. "The borough's 2.3 million people is overwhelmingly middle-class. They don't need floor to ceiling windows with a view of the Manhattan skyline. What they need is high quality flexible office space at an affordable price, and that's exactly what they get at the Executive Office Center.

The Executive Office Center offers two alternatives to economy-minded companies, full-service furnished office space and Queens virtual office services.

When you rent an office at the Executive Office Center, your monthly rent covers all of your expenses, including telephone and internet service, utilities, cleaning, lobby reception and telephone answering. If you don't need an office on a full time basis, but only for part time or occasional use, you can become a virtual tenant of the Executive Office Center for as little as $39/month.

On Sunday, March 4, 12:00 to 4:00, the Executive Office Center will hold an open house to showcase its office suites and virtual office services.

"It's almost springtime," said Mr. Blumner. "Spring means growth. That applies to the plants and trees that have lain dormant all winter, but it is also a time when businesses come out of hibernation, too."
